A two-part, nature-based therapy group that helps kids grow confidence, connection, and self-awareness—through play, gardening, and time in nature.
About the Program
Kids in the Garden: Roots & Shoots is a small group occupational therapy program offered in two seasonal segments:
- Part 1: Spring Series: Friday May 16-June 20th from 9:15 - 10:45am
- Part 2: Summer Series: Tuesday July 8 - August 12th from 9:15 - 10:45 with one make up week August 19
Families are welcome to register for just one or join us for both. The two parts are designed to complement each other, with consistent themes and skill-building across the sessions. Each group runs independently, so your child can benefit whether they attend one season or both.
Through sensory-rich play, hands-on gardening, and supported peer interactions, children practice self-regulation, emotional expression, flexible thinking, and authentic connection with others—all in a playful, grounded, outdoor setting.
Program Goals
- Build awareness of internal body cues (interoception)
- Support sensory processing and emotional regulation
- Strengthen executive functioning skills like planning, organizing, and shifting between tasks
- Foster co-regulation and meaningful connection with peers
- Create space for confidence to grow in nature-based experiences
